The A_984 shoe marks a milestone as the first footwear designed for production using 3D printing. Its journey began in Barcelona in December 2022 at the Footwearology space, where the initial version was printed. This pioneering design was later showcased at MICAM Milano in early 2023, capturing attention for its innovative "mixed texture" approach. By combining FDM printing techniques, the shoe achieved a visually striking effect of diverse textures across its surface, setting it apart as a trailblazer in digital manufacturing.
Evolution and Testing for Performance
Refined second version
In early 2023, a refined second version of A_984 was printed at the Zulu Kuki studio. Significant improvements were made, including better adaptation to the foot, optimized printing parameters, material adjustments, and new color options. The updated design blended dynamic, motorcycle-inspired shapes with a classic loafer-like front, creating a unique aesthetic. To ensure functionality, the shoe underwent flexibility tests conducted by professional dancers. By 2024, the project gained further recognition, earning a feature in the book UNDOXXED: The Finest in Digital Lifestyle Culture.
